How to Make Data Items "required" only for specific Tasks

In an Approval flow I would like the Numeric-type Data Item to be required only for the step of submitting the approval request. Is it possible to make only the Numeric Data Items required?

Since the settings of Data Items are shared throughout the App it is not possible to make input mandatory only for a specific Task.
As an alternative, we recommend that you define a business flow in which an incomplete field will result in a rejection. You can use conditional expressions of an XOR Gateway and the Split function of a Human Task to model the business flow so incomplete data will result in the relevant Task being repeated.
