This document outlines the specifications for exporting Workflow Apps defined within the workflow platform as an app archive (QAR file).
Format and Filename of an App archive
The file format and default file name when exporting an app definition.
- File format
- File Extension: qar
- (Exported app archives are also called QAR files)
- Filename
- In-Development Version
- {App Name}_ver_editing.qar
- Released Version

Expiration Period for App Archives
The Questetra BPM Suite is continuously updated. If there is a significant difference between the version at the time the app archive was created and the version of the workflow platform where it is imported, there is a possibility that certain features and functionalities may become incompatible. Therefore, the allowable version of archived files for import is reviewed annually during major version updates.
- Expiration Period: Approximately 3 years
- The archive remains valid until the fourth major version update after its creation.
- Example: An archive created in Version 16.X
- Can be imported into workflow platforms up to Version 19.X
- Cannot be imported into workflow platforms Version 20.0 and beyond
